Don't succumb to the doldrums of winter— this February 18th come on in to the bright colors and hot rhythms of our Mardi Gras fundraising blast! Since we were busting at the seams the last few years, this year we're going bigger. This year, we're holding the festivities at a new location, the Jones River Trading! Still on the banks of the mighty Jones River, the Jones River Trading is located at 42 Elm Street in Kingston, and with plenty of parking. (thejonesrivertrading.com)

Come on in from the cold, grab a handful of beads and a feathered mask (provided), and two-step the night away to the the irresistible dancing rhythms of our favorite Cajun band, Grand Bois. Feast on traditional Louisianan jambalaya and King Cake, libate at the cash bar, browse the curiosities of the silent auction, and play some games, all while basking in the glow of good deeds done. And costumes are encouraged so go on and get gussied up— you can come in the traditional purple, green and gold of Mardi Gras!

Doors open at 6:30pm, music begins at 7:30pm. Ticket prices, until Feb 16, are $40 for a single, $75 for a pair, and since it proved popular last year, our "third wheel special" is $110 for 3 tickets. After Feb 16 and at the door prices are $45/$85/$125. Tickets may be purchased online or by stopping in at the Jones River Landing, 55 Landing Road in Kingston (781-585-2322).

Our Mardi Gras is a yearly fundraiser of the Jones River Landing. Why Mardi Gras? It's our way of joining in the spirit of New Orleans, and in Haiti where it is called Carnival. Our profits are split between two deserving and hardworking charities in New Orleans and Haiti. The Community Center of St. Bernard in New Orleans (www.ccstb.org) supplies the people of the still-devastated St. Bernard Parish with basic food, clothing, and employment assistance. In Haiti, Containers 2 Clinics (www.containers2clinics.org) has provided much-needed healthcare to over 10,000 women and children.
