Sharks in the River!

August 2007

John Chisholm of the Division of Marine Fisheries held an exciting talk about the sharks of Kingston, Plymouth and Duxbury Bays, on August 23, 2007. John and his team tracked Sand Tiger sharks throughout the region all summer. A large number of sharks were caught, measured, and returned to the water. The team also tagged several sharks so that they could be tracked over the following months. One of the sharks was brought to Landing for tagging and measurements. Take a look at these great articles in the Kingston Reporter covering the program: The team expects to continue their work into 2008. Stayed tuned for updates, as we hope to get John back here for another talk. For more information on the protection of this species in Massachusetts waters, please see the DMF marine fisheries advisory.
